About this facility

A 270kWth Advanced Linear Fresnel Reflector (ALFR) concentrator connected to a molten salt thermocline tank (NEWSOL), operating up to 500ºC. The ALFR system has an area of 440m2 of mirrors with a peak geometric concentration of 45X, and it was specifically designed for evacuated tubular receiver compatible with molten salts. The optic developed incorporates a novel secondary optic based on a Compound Eliptical Concentrator and able to mitigate the optical gap losses between the secondary and the receiver by mean of a V-through shape adaptation on the top of the secondary. The system uses molten salts both as heat transfer fluid and storage media. The system is still in the construction and subsequent commissioning phase.
