About this facility

The DLR high-flux solar simulator is an assembly of ten elliptical aluminium reflectors with xenon short arc lamps with an artificial light spectrum close to natural sunlight. The emitted short wave radiation of about 20 kW emitted by the reflectors is concentrated on a target at a distance of 3 m. The radiation sums up to an energy density of 4,1 MW/m2

Sectors and technologies

to The core applications are testing and evaluating experiments in the field of basic research or close to industry which services can be requests like high temperature solar thermochemical cycles, photochemical experiments and reactions e.g. toxin provided: destruction, assessment of materials under conditions of extreme temperature and radiation intensity, material research, component testing e.g. absorbers for CSP, at least the production of hydrogen or space experiments. Test of satellite-components under extreme conditions such as High vacuum down to 10-6 mbar
